Lead Safe Columbus Program

Do you own a property built before 1978 within the City of Columbus limits?  If you answered YES, did you know the City of Columbus Lead Safe Columbus Program is now available and accepting applications.

Lead Safe Columbus is a grant funded program through the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control. The mission of Lead Safe Columbus is to create lead-safe and healthy affordable housing and prevent the lead poisoning of children and adults in Columbus neighborhoods.  


Eligible properties may receive repairs at an average cost of:  

  • $22,000 per property to address lead-based paint hazards in the home 

  • $4,200 per property to address healthy homes repairs (if applicable) 

  • $1,600 per property to address radon testing & mitigation system installation (if applicable)
