Ohio Capital Budget Applications

Apply for funding from the Ohio Capital Budget for local projects. Application Deadline is March 12 .

Resources, Community Support

Mar 19, 2026

The Ohio General Assembly typically passes a state capital budget every two years. It includes a portion for community projects where local governments and certain nonprofits may submit requests for funding. The Ohio General Assembly welcomes and encourages you to seek funding for your local projects using the attached application.

For applications to be reviewed and submitted on time, the attached worksheet must be fully completed and sent to rep06@ohiohouse.gov with the subject line: “Capital Budget Request: [PROJECT NAME]” by March 12, 2026, at noon. You may submit materials prior to that deadline so that my office has more time to ensure applications are in their best possible form. Keep in mind that all requests are subject to the approval of Majority GOP leadership in the House and Senate, as well as OBM/the Administration.

Community Projects

The capital budget typically includes approx. $150-200M for impactful, public-facing community projects across the state. Because these community projects are generally backed by state-issued bonds, they must meet strict requirements to be eligible for funding. Attached you will find Tips for Successfully Securing Project Funding from the Office of Budget and Management (OBM). This is a useful guide to better understand the types of community projects that are eligible for state capital budget funding. It includes the following materials that you may find insightful:

  • a table with examples of previously funded projects by agency (see page 6)

  • a list of types of projects not funded by state bonds (see page 7)

  • detailed information for community projects by fund (see pages 8-14)

The previous Capital Budget included a one-time fund that allowed some projects to be funded outside standard eligibility criteria, but that fund is not available this capital budget, so some projects funded last cycle may not qualify this General Assembly. If you have questions about eligibility, please contact Representative Cockley’s office.
